Susan Lyne '68, President + Managing Partner, AOL BBG Ventures

Susan has long list of leadership positions and impressive achievements on her resume – from Disney to Martha Stewart Living to Most recently, she founded BBG Ventures, an early stage fund focused on investing in start-ups founded by women.

Susan visited campus last fall to talk to current students about her experience at Beaver and how it prepared her for the corporate world.

"At Beaver, I was groomed to be a leader and I think that was largely because I had teachers who helped me to realize standards. I learned to love writing and reading and that has been at the core of all the work I’ve done for the last 40 years."

Lauren Lapuck '13, Student at New York University

Lauren is the artist behind the now-iconic John Lennon sculpture in the VPAC lobby. The piece was her final project for the two-term class Senior Studio; it was a project and a class that changed her future trajectory. Upon discovering her passion for art, she decided to take a gap year post-graduation and applied to NYU, where she is currently pursuing a BFA degree in Studio Arts.

"During my senior year, I hadn't decided on my path for college. Luckily, Beaver is full of passionate people in so many areas - and I was fortunate to absorb that passion for the arts. The school provided me with the space, the support, and the freedom to explore art, without bounds or limitations. Beaver gave me the opportunity to look at the world around me differently and to challenge myself to see what others might not."
